- 5 Cups Water
- 1 Cup Packed Mint Leaves Chopped up. See notes
- 5-6 Freshly Squeezed Lemons Should be around ¾-1 cup lemon juice.
Simple Syrup
- 1 Cup Water
- ⅓ Cup Granulated Sugar
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
Make the Lemonade
Start off by chopping the mint. See notes for 3 different ways.
Take a large pitcher and add in the crushed mint, water, and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Stir well and let sit.
Pour the syrup into the pitcher and give it a good stir with a wooden spoon or spatula.
Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 hours. The longer the better.
When ready to serve, remove the mint leaves with a slotted spoon or fine mesh strainer.
To serve, fill a tall glass with ice cubes, add additional whole mint leaves if you like, and pour over the lemonade.
Serve with a fresh lemon slice.
If it is too strong of a lemon flavor just add a little water at a time until your desired taste.
Three ways to dice the mint:
-
- With a knife
- Mortar and Pestal
- In a blender with 1 cup of the water
The mortar & postal or blender will give the most flavor.
*The lemonade needs time to chill in order for the mint to infuse the most flavor.
