Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 4 Cinnamon Sticks Broken up

Instructions

  • Start off by breaking apart the cinnamon sticks into a few pieces.
  • Fill a small pot with the water and sugar. Start to warm over medium heat until the sugar begins to dissolve. Mix well.
  • Add in the cinnamon sticks and bring to a boil. Reduce down to a simmer and allow to cook for 20 minutes or until the syrup is a brown color and smells like cinnamon.
  • Remove from the heat and allow to slightly cool.
  • Place a fine mesh strainer over a bowl and run the liquid through, catching all the bits of cinnamon in the strainer.
  • Toss the cinnamon sticks and save the syrup in a glass bottle or container.
