Soothing and comforting medicine ball tea. This popular drink from Starbucks couldn't be any easier to make at home. It's perfect for those cold days to warm you up or soothe a sore throat.
During flu season it's important that I have a variety of teas to help fight any bugs my kids bring home from school. And nothing beats my favorite tea combination from Starbucks, or a large pot of soup.
The medicine ball tea (or medicine bomb) is a combination of two kinds of tea, honey, and lemon. It's a popular tea and also happens to be a secret menu item that, thankfully, most Starbucks baristas still know how to make.
Better yet, skip the lines and save your $7 and make this popular drink yourself.
With just a few tea bags, some hot water, a touch of honey and lemon you can make it right at home. No need to drive all the way to your local Starbucks for your favorite cold buster tea.

Enhance this drink with a flavorful simple syrup. Some great options would be a cinnamon simple syrup or a mint simple syrup.
Ingredients
Tea: The two types of tea you are going to need are a mint citrus and a peach. While Starbucks uses Teavana tea bag (and that's what I prefer), you can grab any brand tea that has those flavors.
Teavana teas can be ordered online and are also available at most local grocery stores.
Lemon: The Starbucks version uses warmed up lemonade, which tastes amazing but I'm always left with a headache from all the added sugar in it.
If you prefer this way just warm up some lemonade in a small sauce pot before adding to the tea.
This copycat recipe uses fresh lemon juice which is also preferred if you are trying to fight off cold symptoms.
How to Make
Start off by brewing your water to 205 degrees Fahrenheit or according to your tea directions.
In a mug, add the peach tea bag and the jade citrus mint tea bag. Pour the hot water over the top.
Allow the tea to steep for 5-8 minutes. Longer it steeps, the stronger it gets.
Add in some honey and stir until it dissolves.
Top it off with juice from half a lemon, stir and enjoy.
Add more honey and lemon as needed.
And that's it! You just made a great cup of hot tea that will booste your immune system or just warm you up after a cold day.
Substitutions
Typically Starbucks makes their medicine ball teal with warm lemonade. See below for more info if you would like to make it this way.
Lemonade: If you are using your favorite pulp free lemonade, warm it in the microwave (in a microwave-safe mug) or use steamed lemonade from an espresso machine.
Variations
Iced Medicine Ball Tea: This tea drink is also great iced! Just steep the tea bags in 8 oz of water instead of 12oz, add in the honey and lemon, stir well and pour over ice. Add more ice as it melts.
Hot Toddy: This combination makes a wonderful hot toddy as well. Add 1.5 oz of your favorite bourbon to take this tea from good to fantastic.
Make it Sweet: Add in a fun simple syrup to make this drink a little sweet. Some great option are cinnamon simple syrup or mint simple syrups.
Equipment
Electric Tea Kettle: I love this tea kettle. Bring water to a boil quickly and will hold the temperature.
