    Ingredients

This recipe is super simple and only requires four ingredients.

Greek Yogurt, oat milk, banana, and a bowl of blueberries.

Frozen Blueberries and Banana: Preferably both of these should be frozen but if only one is, that is okay too. If neither are frozen, add in 1 cup of ice. It may not turn out as creamy, but will work in a pinch.

Did you know blueberries are easy to freeze? During the summer months you can harvest your own in your backyard or from a blueberry field and freeze for later. Learn how to freeze blueberries.

Milk: This version calls for oat milk but feel free to use your favorite dairy or plant based milk. Another great option would be almond milk.

Yogurt: Regular yogurt can be used instead of greek if you prefer.

Optional: While this smoothie is great with these four ingredients, some other add-ins could be peanut butter and protein powder.

    How to Make

Step 1: Place all the ingredients in the jar of a blender in the order listed.

    Secure the lid on tight

Step 2: Run the blender for 90 seconds on medium-high speed, or the smoothie option if your blender has that.

Run until it is completely smooth with no more lumps.

Step 3: Pour into a glass and enjoy!

Due to the thickness of this smoothie, it makes a great smoothie bowl as well. Get my blueberry smoothie bowl recipe.

    Equipment

High Powered Blender: My favorite blender to make smoothies in is a Blendtec. They just turn out so smooth and creamy every single time.

Food Processor: If you do not have a blender, a food processor will also work.

Two small glasses with a purple smoothie, a bowl of blueberries and a banana.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do the Blueberries Need to be Frozen?

While they do not need to be frozen, it certainly makes it better. Using ice instead will water down the smoothie and it won't be as thick.
